Day 1
Arusha receives you at the edge of things — the last city before the savannah opens. You are twenty minutes from the airport, a short drive from town, and already the air carries the particular stillness of a place that knows it is the beginning of something larger.

Arusha Coffee Lodge sits on the working Burka Coffee Estate on the outskirts of Arusha, a short drive from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Part of the Elewana Collection, it occupies colonial-era plantation cottages set among rows of arabica coffee, offering a grounded, estate-house atmosphere that reads more like a private retreat than a transit hotel. The lodge's position on a functioning coffee estate sets it apart from Arusha's standard safari-gateway properties — guests can walk the plantation, taste the harvest, and arrive at the Northern Circuit feeling genuinely arrived rather than merely transferred.

Day 2
Breakfast at the lodge, then the road south. By the time you reach the Makayuni junction the city has long dissolved behind you, and what begins on two wheels — dry savanna air, the slow reveal of baobabs — ends, hours later, deep inside Tarangire country.

Tarangire Biking

After breakfast you head out to the Makayuni junction about 1.5 hours outside of Arusha. From here you set out on bikes for 3 hours (25 km / 15 miles) and ride into the Greater Tarangire ecosystem, which borders the national park. You ride through villages and encounter Maasai local communities along the way. Your crew will have a nice spot set up under an acacia tree with lunch and refreshments. You can opt to ride longer or make your way into Tarangire National Park. You will do a game drive en route to camp, arriving in time to freshen up before dinner

Lemala Mpingo Ridge is a tented lodge perched on a rocky ridge overlooking Tarangire National Park in northern Tanzania. It sits within the Tarangire ecosystem — one of East Africa's most underrated wildlife corridors — and carries the intimate, unhurried atmosphere that defines the Lemala collection. The ridge position sets it apart from camps on the valley floor: the elevated sightlines across the baobab-studded plains are a genuine draw, and the lodge's proximity to the park boundary means game drives begin immediately.

Tarangire National Park

Day 3
By the third day, the park begins to work on you differently. The baobabs — ancient, extravagant, indifferent to your presence — stop being remarkable and start being simply there, the way a mountain range eventually stops being scenery. The elephants move through the swamp on their own time, and you learn to move on theirs.
Tarangire Game Drive

Tarangire National Park is known for massive elephant populations and a surreal baobab landscape. Amongst rolling hills and swamps there are plains game and also predators. Today you enjoy a full day of game viewing in the park. You have options for morning and afternoon game drives with lunch in camp or you can opt for picnic lunches to head further afield.

Day 4
The Great Rift Valley opens the day wide. You leave Tarangire behind after breakfast and trade the game drives for something slower — pedaling through villages at the pace of a conversation, the escarpment rising above you as you go.

Manyara Biking

Our bikes rejoin us today and we set off mid morning into a more rural environment passing picturesque villages along the Great Rift Valley. Rivers, fed from the forests of the Ngorongoro highlands above, that run down the rift wall and provide year round sustenance for farming and we pass through farms. Lunch is taken at a scenic spot and after lunch we ride all the way to the southern end of Lake Manyara. You bike around 5 hours including lunch (32km). Here we leave our bikes and game drive through Lake Manyara to our accommodation. You arrive in time for showers and dinner.

andBeyond Lake Manyara Tree Lodge sits deep within the ancient mahogany forest of Lake Manyara National Park in northern Tanzania. Ten intimate tree houses are raised into the forest canopy, placing guests at eye level with the park's celebrated tree-climbing lions and the dense birdlife that fills the surrounding woodland. This is one of only two lodges permitted inside the national park itself, giving guests exclusive access to the forest at dawn and dusk — hours when the rest of the park's visitors have long since departed.

Ngorongoro Crater

Day 5
The crater rim arrives before the crater itself — first the cool of altitude, the long grass catching the afternoon light, the sense of standing at the edge of something enormous that reveals itself slowly. This morning belongs to water and walking, the falls at Endoro drawing you down through the escarpment before the evening lifts you back above it.

Entamanu Ngorongoro is a small, open-fronted tented camp perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater in northern Tanzania — one of the few properties positioned above the caldera itself rather than below it. The camp trades resort comfort for raw proximity to the landscape, with canvas walls and unobstructed sightlines into the crater floor. Its rim-top elevation sets it apart from crater-floor lodges: guests wake to mist rolling across the caldera and descend into the wildlife-dense bowl each morning, returning to a perspective most visitors never see.

Ngorongoro Crater

Day 6
By the second dawn on the rim, the crater has become familiar in outline but not in detail — that distinction matters down there. The descent begins early, the road dropping through forest into a world that operates entirely on its own terms.

Wildlife

After an early breakfast you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s finest game haunts that plays host to almost every individual wildlife species in East Africa, including the Big Five, the rare black-maned lions, endangered black rhino and over 100 species of birds. You enjoy a picnic lunch in the Crater floor and then return to your lodge in time for dinner.

Kichakani Camp is a classic mobile tented camp operated under the A&K Sanctuary collection, moving between two seasonal positions within Tanzania's Serengeti National Park to track the Great Migration year-round. Ten canvas tents — teak-floored, open-decked, and furnished with mid-century safari antiques — deliver genuine bush immersion without sacrificing comfort. What sets Kichakani apart is the dual-location model: the northern Lamai triangle for Mara River crossings from June to November, and the southern plains for calving season from December to March — meaning the camp is always where the action is, not approximating it.

At leisure in Serengeti

2 days
Days 8–9
By the second morning, the Serengeti has begun to work on you differently — less spectacle, more attention. The light comes early and low across the grass, and you already know to watch for stillness: the flattened ear, the tail that doesn't move with the wind.

Departure

Day 10

The Serengeti does not ease you out gently. You leave as the camp begins its quiet routines — the smell of woodsmoke, the light still low — and the plains hold their own counsel as the airstrip draws closer.
